National Academies – A consortium of scientists that provide expert advice pro bono to the federal government and the public on critical scientific matters.

Pew Center on Global Climate Change – A nonprofit group formed to provide independent nonpartisan advice on polarized issues.

Koshland Science Museum – A science museum in Washington D.C. funded by the National Academies.

NOAA – The U.S. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration.

 

Scientific Consensus

International Panel on Climate Change – An international group of experts formed by WMO and UNEP to assess scientific, technical and socio- economic information on climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.

The National Academies- A joint statement by the National Academies of Science from all G8 countries plus China, India and Brazil.

American Geophysical Union- A statement issued by a professional society of American geophysicists and earth scientists.

American Meteorological Society- A statement issued by a professional society of American meteorologists.

Internationally

The Kyoto Protocol – Information on the United Nations Framework on Climate Change and current events on the Kyoto Protocol: an international effort to mitigate greenhouse gases.

DEFRA – The U.K.’s position on climate change.

 

Nationally

The Climate Stewardship and Innovation Act of 2005 – The updated version of the Senate bill sponsored by Sen. McCain and Sen. Lieberman that includes a focus on innovation and research.

The Climate Stewardship Act – A bill sponsored by Senator Lieberman currently in the Senate.

National Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Act of 2005 –A House bill sponsored by Rep. Olver.

Climate Change Technology Tax Incentives Act of 2005 – A bill sponsored by Sen. Hagel to amend the Internal Revenue Code to provide tax incentives for the investment in greenhouse gas intensity reduction projects.

West Coast Governors' Global Warming Initiative – A series of recommendations from the governors of California, Oregon and Washington for state initiatives.

California Legislation – Governor Schwarzenegger’s establishment of GHG limits for the state of California.

Massachusetts Legislation- Current actions by the Massachusetts state government.

The U.S. Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement- A call by many U.S. mayors to reduce GHG nationally and an agreement to meet Kyoto targets on a city-wide scale.

Chicago Climate Exchange – A multinational and multisector market for trading greenhouse gas emissions.

The European Union Greenhouse Gas Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS)- An emission trading scheme formed to meet the needs of the Kyoto Protocol.
